1. Could you share a little about your background and how art first found its place in your life?
I have been drawing since childhood, starting with small crafts like using onion peels and later making drawings in my science record books. My friends often asked me to draw for their records, and I truly enjoyed it. After almost a decade, I returned to art during my postpartum period. What began as a hobby soon became something more—I started drawing on walls, explored many different crafts, and rediscovered the creative spark I had lost. However, I had never worked digitally before, and the Artpreneur Program was my first experience with digital art.

2. For a long time, art existed as a hobby for you. What shifted when you began to see it as a possible profession?
After exploring many different random craft skills, I began thinking about taking classes. When I shared with a friend that I wanted to host a drawing class, she said it was just a hobby and questioned why anyone would want to learn it. Her words reflected the doubts I already had. That moment helped me realise the importance of improving my skills and committing more deeply to my art.

3. As a mother of two, with limited support and many responsibilities, what was the most Challenging part of choosing yourself during this journey?
The most challenging part for me has been time management. After being a homemaker for a decade, I was not used to a fixed routine or consistent schedule, so following one felt unfamiliar. Finding time for homework was difficult, and I often felt I couldn’t explore beyond it.

4. Today, you’re able to create artworks and branding projects entirely from scratch. What was the most essential learning that helped you reach this level of confidence?
The most essential learning for me was understanding the value of consistency and practice. Early on, I realised that skills grow only when you dedicate time to them regularly, even if it feels slow at first. Along the way, I also learned to balance creativity with discipline—completing foundational work, experimenting and exploring new ideas systematically. This combination helped me gain the confidence to create artworks and branding projects entirely from scratch, knowing I can rely on both my skills and my creative instincts.

5. Can you share one of the biggest challenges you faced while balancing household responsibilities alongside the program?
Living alone with two kids, all the household responsibilities were on my shoulders, and I also carried the weight of mom guilt. The course took up most of my day, both physically and mentally, so balancing these responsibilities at the same time was very challenging. For the whole year, I cocooned myself in one room, rarely going out for social events or functions. I also faced a lot of judgment, as I am not only a mother but also a daughter and daughter-in-law and people often questioned my choices and I realised how I had been misusing myself in the name of fulfilling everyone else’s expectations. Despite all this, the experience taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of prioritising my growth alongside my family responsibilities.

6. After nearly a decade away from structured routines and schedules, how did re-entering a disciplined learning environment change you?
After nearly a decade away from structured routines, re-entering a disciplined learning environment was both challenging and transformative. It taught me the value of consistency, time management and self-discipline. I learned how to prioritise my own growth, plan my days effectively, and balance multiple responsibilities. I’m still in progress, but I’m on the path of finding my own routine. Moving from being constantly available for others to creating a schedule for myself has made me feel valued.
Over time, following a routine became empowering—it helped me rebuild confidence, focus on my goals and realise that I could take my art and personal development seriously, even while managing a busy household.

7. How does working on real-time creative projects now differ from the way you approached art before the program?
During the class, my main focus was on learning the art and completing each project to the best of my ability. It was more about learn and practice. However, working on real-time creative projects now feels very different. I face the pressure of wearing multiple hats—not just as an artist, but also as a content creator, communicator and problem-solver. Each project comes with deadlines, client expectations and the need to balance creativity with practicality.
At the same time, I’m navigating personal challenges, and there are moments when I struggle to decide whether to focus on work or my personal issues. I’m still in progress, learning to prioritise, plan and be patient with myself. This ongoing process is helping me gradually manage responsibilities, stay organised and grow, even if I’m not yet the “perfect” version I hope to be.

8. Could you share your experience working with your educator and mentor during this journey?
After being away from learning for nearly a decade, I had almost lost my ability to listen carefully and follow instructions with trust. Listening to someone and doing what they asked didn’t come naturally to me. During this program, I often struggled to understand my educator Niveditha, Yet, she handled me with incredible patience and consistency. For the first time, I experienced someone guiding me so calmly that even my anxiety would settle whenever I approached her. Her steady voice and unwavering support made a huge difference, and it helped me slowly regain confidence in my ability to listen, learn and trust.
When it comes to talking about my mentor, Balaji sir I truly feel words are not enough. I often struggle to explain the depth of his guidance. He is like an encyclopaedia of tools—there was rarely a situation he hadn’t already thought through. Many times, he seemed to know what challenges we would face even before they appeared in our lives, and he always had a method or a tool to help us handle them. Whenever I faced a problem, it never felt new or overwhelming because he had already prepared us for it through his teachings. But the key was that you have to follow the tools and apply them in life—nothing comes easy. Through his guidance, I learned far more than just design skills—I learned how to approach life with clarity, resilience and problem-solving.

9. Can you describe a moment during the program where you realised, “I can actually do this”?
During the class, there was a point when I felt I had lost my creativity and curiosity—the passion for art that I once had. My mentor explained that a hobby is something we do for enjoyment, but turning it into a profession requires structure, routine, pressure and deadlines. He told us that this course was designed to prepare us for that. Hearing this, I realised that the challenges and pressure were part of the process. From that moment, whenever I doubted myself, I reminded myself: “I can do this.” It was a turning point in how I approached my learning and my art.

10. If someone is standing exactly where you once stood: curious but unsure, what would you want them to know?
If someone were standing exactly where I once stood, I would tell them: “Go for it.” This journey isn’t just about learning design skills—it’s about rediscovering yourself and finding the real you. The transformation begins the moment you enter the program, and you won’t be the same as the person you were before. I would also tell them: until you join the program, listen to yourself and your instincts. But once you’re in and feel like you’ve lost yourself, trust your mentor and educators completely—follow their guidance without overthinking. That’s when real growth and transformation begin.
